Daniela is a pretty little lady that came into the world in July 2021. When I heard that my longtime friend is expecting a baby girl, I knew it's time to do some crocheting :) I wanted to make a very special gift for the little one, so I designed a brand new blanket especially for her. This beautiful and modern design makes a perfect everyday blanket. It looks sophisticated, but at the same time it's so easy and fun to make.
Daniela's Blanket is a great beginner/advanced beginner crochet pattern. It's based on a chunky yarn and a simple and repetitive stitch. That's why the blanket is relatively quick to make and the project itself is very relaxing and enjoyable. The pattern provides clear and easy to follow written instructions. And what's more, parts that could be potentially challenging for beginning crocheters have simple step-by-step directions and well labelled photographs. Don't worry if you only know how to make a chain, single crochet and double crochet stitches (US terms), all special stitches used in this pattern are carefully explained in a photo and video tutorials.
This beautifully textured blanket comes in one size only. I designed it as a stroller size blanket, which is perfect for play time, walks, naps or just for snuggle time. With this pattern you can make a lovely baby blanket that is about 29 inches wide by 35 inches long (74 cm x 90 cm).
I always like to give the average time needed to complete my patterns, even though we all have different pace. The blanket is made with a thicker yarn and large crochet hooks, and this gorgeous stitch grows really fast. That's what makes Daniela's Blanket rather a quick crochet project. Just to give you an idea, I needed about 12 hours to complete my blanket, so I'd call it a perfect pattern for the weekend ;)
This pattern calls for about 1043 yards (952 m) of chunky yarn. I have used 7 skeins of Paintbox Simply Chunky by Paintbox Yarn in a pretty Light Caramel shade (#308). It's one of my favorite yarns for baby blankets. You can choose some other yarn in similar chunky type for this pattern too, but make sure to check and adjust your gauge. You are also going to need two crochet hooks: 6 mm (US J/10) for the main body and 6.5 mm (US K/10.5) for the border, plus scissors and a tapestry needle. A pair of stitch markers will be very handy too.
Now all what's left, is to download the PDF pattern, order some yarn and get started...
